General Managers Experience China

Following another outstanding GMA/CGE – FAM & Professional Development trip put on by the China Golf Experience team for GMA members, the following testimonial is by trip participant, Phillip Drew, General Manager of Sandringham Golf Club.

The eight years of research and relationship development by the team at China Golf Experience became very evident as the trip was seamless with everything meticulously planned and perfectly timed. The accommodation was excellent and we were treated like royalty, eating outstanding food in a variety of restaurants and private dining rooms.

We were introduced to the resort managers, department heads and key personnel and had one on one time to ask questions as to how they ran their respected areas of operation. It is always good to get a new opinion on how a business is run.

The golf courses we played were all world class and the local caddies made navigating new courses very easy and enjoyable.

For those General Managers looking to offer golfing holidays in Asia to their membership I can thoroughly recommend Kevin and Steve from GCE.

On a professional development level, I have three important takeaways:

  • Never underestimate the value of training your staff
  • Make sure you have the right people performing the right tasks
  • Don’t be afraid to invest in extra staff to provide your valued customers with an exception experience

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting two GM’s and we had ample time to share ideas and discuss issues that were affecting our clubs. This alone made the trip worthwhile.
