NOW OPEN – 2018 BMI Program Registrations

Registrations for the world’s most recognised club management professional development program are open in Australia.

Golf Management Australia, in partnership with Golf Australia and the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), is excited to bring the inaugural Business Management Institute (BMI) program to Australia in October.

GMA president Andrew Gay said the BMI program was revered worldwide.

“We are committed to provide a diverse range of professional development opportunities, and this represents the best there is,” Gay said. “We urge all golf club managers to consider the program for themselves and their senior team members.”

Golf Australia chief executive Stephen Pitt said the course represented a great opportunity for clubs to be at the cutting edge of modern practice.

“We strongly encourage clubs to invest in the development of their management teams,” Pitt said. “This program is designed specifically to achieve positive outcomes for clubs, and we all know how important they are.”

BMI develops managers in the core disciplines needed to successfully lead clubs, including:

  • club governance
  • membership and marketing
  • Interpersonal skills
  • food and beverage management
  • accounting and financial management
  • human resources
  • leadership
  • course and golf management
  • facility management
  • external governmental Influences

The first course will be held at Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne from 15-19 October, with another at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney from 22-26 October.

They will be overseen by lead facilitator Dr Geoff Dickson, from La Trobe University, and supported by Professor David Shilbury, from Deakin University, and Jason Koenigsfeld, the senior vice-president of professional development from the Club Management Association of America.
